The good news is...

The past few days have brought both good and bad news. The bad news is that the government has rowed back on its commitment to bring 5000 more refugees into the U.K. on the new UK Resettlement Scheme — some refugees will still be allowed in but it’s not clear how many.

But the good news is that Tyneside Welcomes has finally got full approval from the Home Office as a Community Sponsor. Now all that’s needed is for a family to be allocated to us to support.

We will continue to raise funds in preparation for the family's arrival, and as always we will keep you up to date with what's happening.

In the meantime, you can ask your MP to urge the government to honour their commitments to resettle refugees, bringing safety and security to some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
